Channel 10 and Fox 14 News posted a story related to the Crossett Eagle Football team and their understanding of our situation was not correct. In the story found on their website, they stated, “At least a dozen players on the team received positive tests for COVID-19.” This is not correct. Under the Arkansas Department of Health guidelines, a person who tests positive is isolated and may return to their normal activities after they have met the criteria set forth by the Arkansas Department of Health. Under those same Arkansas Department of Health guidelines, if a person is within six feet for longer than 15 minutes of a known positive that person must quarantine for 14 days as a preventive measure. These individuals are identified as a Probable Close Contact (PCC). Again, if a person is quarantined they are not a known positive, but rather they have been in close contact with a known positive individual. Currently, the Crossett School District does have a small number of individuals who have a positive test and are in isolation. At the same time, we do have others who have been identified as Probable Close Contacts and are in quarantine. Crossett School District follows the Arkansas Department of Health’s guidelines and protocols when notified of a positive case within the student body and staff. Once notified the District’s Point of Contact will begin contact tracing within the District. This is to identify any individual who was within six feet of the known positive individual for 15 minutes or longer. These individuals will be identified as a Probable Close Contact and are not positives. Once an individual has been identified as a Probable Close Contact they or their parents are notified and begin their 14-day quarantine. Again, a person in quarantine is not a known positive. The District will post an updated statement to our website once we have been notified of a positive case within our students/staff members and all identified Probable Close Contacts have been notified. This can be found by going to the MENU on our website and then clicking on the COVID-19 link. Information from the Arkansas Department of Health regarding Positive Cases and isolation, and Probable Close Contacts and quarantines can be found under the COVID-19 link as well. You can also view the documents by clicking on the following link. https://www.healthy.arkansas.gov/programs-services/topics/covid-19-guidance-for-self-home-isolation https://www.healthy.arkansas.gov/programs-services/topics/covid-19-guidance-for-self-home-quarantine Channel 10 and Fox 14 News are aware of the mistake and are in the process of correcting the story. We appreciate their interest and continued coverage of our District. For updated information regarding known positive COVID-19 cases within our students/staff members please, visit our website.

Sunday, September 13th, 2020 Dear Parents, Students, and Faculty: Today the Crossett School District was notified by the Arkansas Department of Health (ADH) of a positive case of COVID-19 at Crossett High School. The District followed the ADH protocols to identify Probable Close Contacts. Those who have met the criteria as a Probable Close Contact have been contacted. If you have not been contacted you do not meet the criteria based on the information provided to the district. Classes will continue on our current schedule in all buildings. Crossett School District will continue to work with the ADH and follow their protocols as directed. We appreciate the work and cooperation of our students, staff, and parents during this situation. Again, if you have not been contacted you are not considered a Probable Close Contact. Please monitor our website and social media for updates as they become available. Gary Williams, Superintendent

For those traveling to Osceola for the game on Saturday we would like to share some important information. The game begins at 6:00 and COVID 19 guidelines will be in place. It is essential if the season is to last these requirements be followed. Arkansas Department of Health officials are monitoring games across the state for compliance. They have indicated that if guidelines are not followed the season is at risk to be cancelled. If you choose to attend, please be willing to follow these guidelines for the sake of our students, coaches, and fans. The guidelines for football games are different from other events. They are as follows: Six feet of physical distancing must be maintained for those not in the same household at all times while entering and leaving the stadium, and while in the stadium. Masks are required at all times. The only exception is while you are eating or drinking. We recognize these requirements are not what we want to do, but they are required by all in attendance and we ask for your cooperation. As mentioned earlier, if physical distancing is not maintained and masks are not worn for the entirety of the game the season is subject to being cancelled by the Arkansas Department of Health. Please help by doing your part. Concessions will not be available during the game out of an abundance of caution taken by the Osceola School District. However, you will be allowed to bring in food and drinks. For those not attending you will be able to listen to the game on 104.9 and it will be streamed by the Osceola School District. It will be available on Facebook and YouTube and can be found by searching Seminole Nation. We are all excited to see our students back in the classrooms and to see our Eagles back on the field. If you are attending the game tomorrow, please travel safe and remember Eagles Fly High!

We are currently monitoring the weather situation with the possibility an early school closure today. If the storm continues to track east, a closure is most likely to occur. We will keep everyone posted, but we encourage parents and guardians to make plans now to pick up their students in case we do have an early dismissal today. Thank you!
