CMS 7th and 8th Grade Move to Remote Instruction 10-13-2020
The Crossett School District Ready for Learning Plan was developed to address the likelihood of positive COVID-19 cases within the staff and students and those who are identified as Probable Close Contacts (PCC). A person who has a positive test for COVID-19 will be isolated for at least 10 days before they are allowed to return to their normal activities. A person who has been identified as a Probable Close Contact has not tested positive, but rather has been in close contact (within 6 feet) for more than 15 minutes with someone who has tested positive. A PCC must quarantine for 14 days following close contact with a positive individual before they can return to their normal activities.
At this time, Crossett Middle School has one active COVID-19 case. However, there have been several in our teaching staff identified as a PCC, which requires a 14-day quarantine. The Crossett School District Ready for Learning Plan mentioned above includes an option to move to remote learning if necessary. Due to the number of quarantines at Crossett Middle School, students in grades seven and eight will move to remote learning on Tuesday, October 13, 2020. This will continue at least through October 19, 2020, and possibly through October 23, 2020. Students in grades five and six will report to onsite instruction as normal. Again, only students in grades seven and eight will move to remote learning. Students will access their lesson through Google Classroom and the Summit Learning Platform. All other campuses will continue with on-site instruction as normal.
Below is a summary of each building and their learning pathway for the week of October 13th:
Crossett Learning Center: Onsite Instruction
Crossett Elementary School: Onsite Instruction
Crossett Middle School (grades five and six): On-site Instruction
Crossett Middle School (grades seven and eight): Remote Instruction
Crossett High School: On-site Instruction
Again, only students in grades seven and eight will move to remote instruction.
In the event it becomes necessary to change the above mention pathways, it will be communicated as soon as the decision has been finalized. If you have any questions or need any assistance please contact the office at your child’s school.

Due to a shortage in bus drivers, the following afternoon routes are cancelled: Thursday afternoon - Bus 47 and Friday afternoon - Bus 34 and Bus 45.

With dedication like this it's easy to see why Crossett Middle School has so much school spirit!!! Way to go Andrew Mays.

Don't forget tomorrow is "Pink Out" Day at CMS!!!

This is an important message about a change to the instructional schedule for onsite learners beginning October 19, 2020.
Greetings to Crossett School District Students and Parents, The Crossett School District will modify our instructional plan in response to COVID-19. As we planned for the 2020-21 school year, we faced challenges that none of us had ever experienced. The Arkansas Department of Elementary and Secondary Education required school districts to provide both onsite and remote learning options as our country moved into this pandemic. Our goal was to provide parents two options and keep school as normal as possible. After six weeks of school, we realize our teachers need more time to connect with remote learners and plan for two methods of instruction. As a result, Crossett School District will move to four days of onsite instruction, with one remote day for our students enrolled in the onsite learning pathway. This change is not connected to the number COVID-19 cases, as we currently only have two active cases in the district, but rather the time our teachers need to serve both onsite and remote students. Beginning on October 19, 2020, all onsite students will be remote on Mondays and back on campus Tuesday through Friday. Regular bus routes will not run on Mondays, but the buildings will be accessible for those who need services. The cafeterias will also be open for any student on campus and for those who wish to pick up a meal. For the students who are currently enrolled in the remote learning pathway, nothing will change. Students will continue to access their lessons through Google Classroom.
