The Crossett School District would like to inform our parents and patrons about a social media post circulated at the CHS and CMS campus today, May 5, 2023, involving a threat that resulted in the Crossett High School campus briefly going on lockdown.
This post originated from a social media account from a different Arkansas town. Upon further investigation, it was determined that the post originated from a post out of Florida. The post alleged that a school shooting would occur on May 5, 2023, at 2:40 p.m. The threat is not specific to any school in Arkansas, and there are no known threats directed at Crossett School District. However, we take all safety concerns seriously and will continue to monitor the situation and work with local law enforcement to ensure students and staff are safe at all times.
Again, the general awareness statement is not specific to any school district in Arkansas, including Crossett School District. The link to the news story out of Florida will also be attached, showing the social media post circulated in our district.

Baccalaureate Service this Sunday, May 7th, 2:00 p.m. at Mount Olive Baptist Church
Please report to the fellowship hall at 1:30 with your cap and gown. You will not sit in rank or alphabetical order. You may sit with whomever you choose for this service. You will file in as a class to be seated together in the center section of the sanctuary.
Baccalaureate is a non-denominational religious service held a few days prior to graduation to offer you a more intimate, less busy time to reflect on this rite of passage, and be challenged and encouraged as you prepare for your next phase of your life.
You are not required to attend, but we hope you will take advantage of this opportunity to be with your class to share this special time together.

The Arkansas Drug Take Back was developed in 2010 to help Arkansas families secure, monitor, and dispose of their unused prescription medications. Most young adults who abuse prescription drugs get those substances from friends’ and families’ homes (NCBI, 2019). Recent data shows that overdose deaths in children under the age of 12 have been increasing along with the opioid crisis. When medications are left uncovered, children risk accidentally ingesting opioids left around the house (NCBI, 2021). To safely dispose of drugs, Crossett community members may drop off old prescriptions at Gammel's Clinic Pharmacy located at 909 Unity Road on Saturday, April 22, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Let’s all do our part to keep our homes and communities safe.

CHS is excited to welcome Miss Arkansas, 2022, Ebony Mitchell, to the C.T. Foster Auditorium Thursday, April 20. She will be speaking to students about the importance of staying safe online based on her platform “A Responsible Digital You”. The presentation will last 30-45 minutes and begins at 9:50 am.

As a reminder, our students will be taking the ACT Aspire test starting tomorrow. We wanted to share a few last-minute tips to ensure that your child is ready for the test:
Get a good night's sleep: Encourage your child to go to bed early tonight so they can wake up feeling rested and alert.
Eat a healthy breakfast: Make sure your child eats a nutritious breakfast to give them the energy they need to perform their best on the test.
Arrive at school on time: Please ensure that your child arrives at school on time, as the test will begin promptly.
We wish all of our students the best of luck on the test, and we are confident that they will perform to the best of their abilities.
Thank you for your support in helping to prepare our students for a successful future.
