An Important Message to the Crossett Elementary Afterschool Care Families and Afterschool Reading Program Families: Due to a water leak and low water pressure, the CES Afterschool Care and Afterschool Reading Program are cancelled on Tuesday, April 7, 2026. Students who typically ride the bus home will be transported on their regularly scheduled bus and bus route. Car riders will need to be picked up in the car rider line. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
We invite all current 3rd grade Families to an important meeting regarding the LEARNS Act and promotion to the 4th grade. The information will be presented at two different times on the same day: Monday, April 13 at 5:30 pm and again at 6:00 pm. We greatly appreciate our partnerships with all families.

Attention Crossett School District Families: State testing is quickly approaching. The Arkansas ATLAS Summative Assessments give students the opportunity to show what they've learned and help our schools measure growth and success. The results also contribute to our district's state rating.
We encourage our families to help students do their best. We encourage our students to try their best and to be proud of their work.
Remember, a healthy FREE breakfast will be served in all the cafeterias to help students be mentally and physically prepared to perform their best.

How do students learn science? They become the scientists!
Thanks to the help of some families in Mrs. Dew's Pre-K 4 classroom, students became scientists and experienced a chick hatching project . They participated in a hands on project of incubating chicken eggs. During this experience, the young scientists explored the developmental stages of chicks, including learning the process of candling which allowed them to observe movement and growth inside the eggs.
The children made thoughtful predictions about when the eggs would hatch, encouraging thinking and early scientific reasoning skills. They also incorporated math by using the chicks as a nonstandard unit of measurement to compare and record each child’s height.
As the project progressed, students participated in daily care routines, including feeding, watering, and gently handling the chicks. This helped learn a sense of responsibility, compassion, and respect for living things.
At the end of our incubation journey, families were given the opportunity to take a chick home, extending the learning experience beyond the classroom.
