Special Education Services

The Special Education Department of the Crossett Public Schools serves approximately 10% of the school district’s student population. These are students that have been identified as having a disability according to state and federal guidelines. The Special Education Department follows strict guidelines mandated by IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act).

Special Education students, kindergarten through twelfth grade, receive intensive instruction in the least restrictive environment with supports and services.

This department is made up of a special education supervisor, special education teachers, speech language pathologists, and paraprofessionals.

The school district purchases psychological services, occupational therapy, speech therapy as well as physical therapy from certified private providers and/or agencies. In addition, Mental Health Services providers are allowed to service students on their caseloads on the different campuses.

The Crossett School District purchases consultant services from Arkansas Transitions to assist schools with transitioning students with disabilities into adult life with positive post school outcomes. Students may access a transition classroom at the Crossett High School.
