Hastings Learning Center Message from the Principal

I grew up in Fountain Hill, Arkansas, a small town in Ashley County. Graduating as Co-Valedictorian of Fountain Hill High School in 1966, I am proud of the education I received while attending the public schools there. I continued my education by attending the University of Arkansas at Monticello and received my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education in 1969. After spending 27 years as a classroom teacher, I received my Masters Degree in Administration from the University of Louisiana at Monroe. Employed with the Crossett School District since 1984, I am in my sixth year as principal.

My love for children and the desire to help them become responsible, productive citizens is the main focus of my job. I want the students to have a safe environment in which to learn each day. I also want them to develop a love for learning as they are guided each day by caring, qualified teachers. I enjoy my job and each day is filled with fun, new experiences.

When I am not at work, I enjoy spending time with my family; Jim, husband of 40 years, daughters Julie Bridges and husband Robby, Janel Walker and husband, Jeff, Jenna Meeks and husband, Shane, and grandchildren Luke and Cameron Bridges, Shayn and Kaedon Walker, Taylor, Zoe, and Allie Meeks.

I am an avid Arkansas Razorback fan and enjoy all types of sports. An active member of South Main Baptist church, I teach 7-12th grade Sunday School.
