Common Core Standards in literacy and mathematics represent a ratcheting up of standards that teachers teach and that students are expected to learn. In comparison to current Arkansas Frameworks, Common Core Standard are more rigorous, fewer in number, and require a deeper level of complex thinking and problem solving by students. The goal is that all students will graduate college and career ready as a result of learning the Common Core Standards throughout their years of schooling. Assessments in each grade will inform teachers, students, and parents whether students are on track to graduate both college and career ready.
