Summary

Accelerated Reader (A.R.) is a program used to promote reading growth in students. Students are tested using the S.T.A.R. program. This testing gives students a range of book levels based on their own level of reading comprehension at the testing time.

Books in the Anderson library have been labeled with colors that correspond to each level of reading comprehension tested by the S.T.A.R program. Students are encouraged to check out A.R. books, read them, then take a computer-generated test on their understanding of the book. Students are then rewarded based on the points earned in their reading levels.

At Crossett Elementary Library, we promote healthy competition between classes and grades. A.R. is a great program that promotes reading excellence.  We are fortunate to subscribe to the Renaissance Place program which gives us access to the entire A.R. database of tests.  To see if a book has a test, visit www.arbookfind.com  Students can test on books from the public library, their home libraries, or school titles.

Ask your student how he or she is doing in A.R., and watch the growth you'll see throughout this school year.
